Tour of the Battenkill Cycling Race 2010

January 13th, 2010 by reynolds

Cambridge, NY – Organizers of the Tour of the Battenkill cycling race announce that amateur registration has exceeded 1800 registrants for the Pro/Am event scheduled for April 10 in Cambridge, NY. Registration for the event is expected to exceed 2200 by the April date, continuing its tradition as the largest single day road cycling race in North America.
The Tour of the Battenkill has expanded to two weekends in 2010. The Pro/Am will be held on Saturday, April 10. A new component – the Ride2Recovery CycleFest – will be held the following Saturday on April 17; the Ride2Recovery CycleFest program is produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation, in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office, to benefit Mental and Physical Rehabilitation Programs that feature cycling as the core activity. Finally, the Professional Invitational will be held on Sunday, April 18. The Tour of the Battenkill Professional Invitational is one of only 7 professional races selected to the UCI America’s Tour Professional Calendar for 2010.
Unique on the North American calendar, the race features 25 percent dirt roads, rolling countryside, covered bridges, and passes through the small villages of Upstate New York’s Washington County, where tens of thousands of spectators lined the route in 2009.
Organizers expect to be able to make further 2010 announcements soon regarding professional team attendance, major sponsors, and other facets of the event including the race expo.
