Cambridge, NY – Organizers of the 2010 Tour of the Battenkill bicycle race are pleased to announce the addition of a ‘Ride2Recovery CycleFest’ as part of the April, 2010 event. The Ride2Recovery program is produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation, in partnership with the Military and VA Volunteer Service Office, to benefit Mental and Physical Rehabilitation Programs for Veterans, and features cycling as the core activity. Its mission statement is to “improve the health and wellness of wounded warriors by providing a life changing experience that can impact their lives forever.” 100% of the Ride2Recovery CycleFest registration proceeds, donations, and funds raised by Ride2Recovery riders will go to this registered not-for-profit organization. The 2010 Tour of the Battenkill will occur over 2 weekends in April, 2010 in Cambridge, NY: the Pro/Am on Saturday, April 10, and the Professional Invitational on Sunday, April 18. The Ride2Recovery CycleFest ride is set for Saturday, April 17 – the day before the professional race. It will include bicycle rides over all or portions of the course in Washington County New York’s Battenkill Valley. Food and sports & fitness expos are planned for both weekends in April. The Tour of the Battenkill has achieved international acclaim; attracting riders from throughout North America, the 2010 professional race has achieved a spot on the international calendar and is likely to attract some of the best cycling teams and riders in the world on April 18, 2010. Professional teams from Europe and Australia have already expressed strong interest in racing at next year’s event. The 2009 event’s presenting sponsor was GlobalFoundries – the computer chip manufacturing company who’s new facility is currently under construction in nearby Malta, NY.
